The Role Youth For Demography Bonus

Joko Widodo said  "demographic bonus is like a double-edged sword, one side is a blessing if we managed to take benefits. The other side is a disaster if the quality of human resources is not prepared properly.

Demography Bonus  is a very rare opportunity in a country , where the productive age (15-64 years) will be more dominant than the non-productive age (less than 15 and over 64).

The fundamental question is: Is Indonesia ready to face the demographic bonus? We take a look in  Badan Pusat Statistik that unemployment in Indonesia continues to increase  year to year.

In education side, the number of elementary school in Indonesia are about hundreds of thousands, ten thousands of junior high school and  twelve thousands of high school, so no wonder Anis Baswedan said that : “education in Indonesia is  designed to not giving certificate because of the inequality education itself”.

Education will effect social circumstances, such as the unemployed, when high unemployment will have an impact on poverty. If  poverty  is high, it will affect the crime. Could Indonesia take benefit of the demographic bonus?

The degree of dependence in Indonesia is projected by BPS  48.8, these figures are very beneficial for a country because of a low dependency.

To face these problems, youth becomes the primary role in building the nation's especially university student so, we are  more aware to problems that exist in our own country.

To grow our awareness all, take a look around us, what is needed by our neighborhood. Take  one action in our surrounding environment. We can  give training motivation for  Indonesian students especially in Senior High School with  the example theme like “Awareness towards recent issues”,“The Important Education After Senior High School”

The Government can  encourage like giving a subsidy for that activity. When they are accustomed  with training, seminars, discussion, and talkshow can grow the awareness  it self. So, university student visit to School not only introduce their campus but also giving motivation for students to make a good character. This action that mentioned by Jokowidodo is Mental Revolution, and affects to youth it will take benefit for demography bonus.  And their awareness towards problem can  automatically find its problem solving.

                So, if the capability of human resources is already qualified, Indonesia can be independent and is not scared of the globalization era and should not be scared to compete with the ASEAN Economic Community countries and the benefits of the demographic bonus can be handled.
